2025 Budget & Levy

The City of Minnetonka is in process of setting its 2025 budget and levy. Residents are invited to follow along and provide feedback on the process on Minnetonka Matters.

2024 Budget & Levy

The Minnetonka City Council adopted the 2024 budget and set the levies to be collected at its Dec. 4, 2023, meeting. These levies are the tax levy, the Minnetonka Economic Development Authority special benefit tax levy, and the Bassett Creek Watershed Management Tax District tax levy.

The 2024 budget and levy reflect the council’s commitment to public safety by beginning the multi-year implementation of the public safety master plan. The budget also looks to invest in city infrastructure by restoring funding to the city’s capital improvement program to pre-pandemic levels.

Budget process and timeline

The city’s budget is structured to provide quality public services to residents and businesses at a reasonable price.

June – Departments prepare budget requests
July – Department budgets reviewed by city manager and finance director
August – City council reviews budget requests at a public study session
September – Council adopts preliminary budget and tax levy
November – Council reviews detailed preliminary budget at a public study session
December – Council reviews budget at a public meeting and adopts final budget and tax levy
