Accepted materials and corresponding fees. Minnetonka residents may drop off the materials listed below. The charge for dropping off each item is included.
Appliances: $10 each
Residential washers, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, ovens, microwaves, freezers, refrigerators, water heaters, home furnaces, trash compactors, garbage disposals, humidifiers, dehumidifiers and air conditioners. Commercial appliances and gas appliances can be dropped off for an additional fee.
Batteries: No charge
All car, truck, motorcycle, ATV, snowmobile and garden tractor batteries are accepted. We are NOT accepting household batteries (includes D, C, AA, AAA, 6-volt, 9-volt, button and rechargeable batteries).
Bicycles: No charge
Building materials: Free
- Cabinetry- bath vanities, kitchen cabinets, cabinet doors.
- Countertops- laminate and stone (straight sections only). No peeling, deep scratches, burn marks or excessive caulking.
- Doors- interior (solid wood, no hollow core) and exterior (metal).
- Flooring- hardwood (new and used) and laminate (new only)
- Grout/mudding- new, unopened containers only
- Hardware - handles, pulls, hinges
- Light fixtures- no shiny brass
- Lumber- see below
- Trim- six foot minimum length. No nails
- Nails/screws- no rust, in original box/containers. No jars or glass
- Plumbing fixtures- faucets
- Tile- new only, full boxes
- Tools- electric (corded or battery), hand (screwdriver, wrenches, handsaws, etc.) and yard tools (rakes, shovels, etc.)
- Windows- see below
Carpet and Padding: $1 per square yard
Determine the number of square yards of carpet. Roll carpet or pad and tape or tie rolls. Rolls must not exceed six feet in length or 12 inches in diameter.
Clothing and linens: No charge.
Pants, shirts, sweaters, shoes, coats, jeans, winter hats, t-shirts, belts, jackets, ties, suits, dresses, baby clothing, sheets, bedspreads, quilts, blankets, pillows and curtains. We will not accept underwear, socks or medical clothing. Donated items will be collected by the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota.
Doors: $5 and up, depending on size
Fluorescent Bulbs: No charge. Up to 10 fluorescent bulbs accepted per vehicle; lamps are not accepted from businesses; don’t tape bulbs
Furniture
- Chairs: small — $5; large — $10
- Loveseat: $15 each
- Couch / Sofa: $20 each
- Hide-a-Bed: $30 each
- Sectionals, Dressers, Chests, Tables and Other Furniture: $5 and up depending on size
Lumber: $5 minimum, based on $30 per cubic yard
Railroad ties, concrete and shingles are not accepted.
Mattresses and Box Springs: $25 per piece for all sizes
Mattresses are dismantled and acceptable materials are recycled via the Second Chance Recycling mattress recycling program.
Medical equipment (in good condition): No charge
Adult and pediatric wheelchairs (manual only), walkers, crutches, canes, bed and bath aides, oxygen concentrators, oxygen tanks, orthopedic aids, first aid supplies, sliding boards, bed rails, wheelchair ramps, hoyer lifts, grabbers, sock aids, microscopes, dental supplies and instruments, stethoscopes, blood pressure monitors, nebulizers, hearing aids and more. This equipment will be donated to Mano a Mano International Partners.
Miscellaneous junk- $30 per cubic yard
Propane Tanks: small — $1; large (over 2-lb. tank) — $5
Scrap Metal
- Clean Scrap Metal: No charge
Includes: pipes, gutters, swing sets, barbecues, ducting and fencing; all plastic, rubber, wood, concrete and hazardous materials must be removed.
- Dirty Scrap Metal: $5 charge
Includes: lawn chairs with webbing, barbecues or lawn mowers with wheels or non-metal parts still attached. All engines must be drained. Additional charges apply for riding mowers, garden tractors, snow blowers and other large items.
Tires
- Car, Trailer or Light Truck: $5 each
- Tires on Rim: $8 each
- Tractor or Truck Tire on Split Rim: $30 each
Toilets and Non-Metal Sinks: $5 each
Used clothing, shoes, towels and bedding: No charge
Water softeners: $20 each
Windows: $5 minimum, based on $30 per cubic yard. Unbroken only, no mold or water damage
