Beginning in September of 2024, crews will start the process of replacing water meters in all Minnetonka homes and businesses. Existing meters are nearing the end of their useful life cycle, and some no longer communicate properly with the equipment used to bill water users.

Installation of the new meter comes at no cost to home and business owners, but some preparation may be necessary before replacement can occur. All water services are required to have working shut-off valves on both sides of the meter. Ensure these valves are working, or hire a licensed plumber to install or repair valves prior to installation.

In total, this project will take roughly 4 years to complete. During the first phase (September - November  2024), 3500 homes and businesses in the northeast portion of the city will be selected for replacement.
