Council adopts ordinance establishing a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commission
The city council adopted an ordinance establishing a new advisory commission which will incorporate community voices in Minnetonka’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. One of the key strategies is to actively engage the community by working collaboratively to broaden policy outcome and respond to community needs, views and expectations. DEI Commission recruitment timelines will align with the other advisory commissions with applications becoming available in November and interviews taking place late January.
Council adopts resolution and ordinance approving the multi-family residential development project at 10701 Bren Rd. E
The city council adopted a resolution and ordinance which approved the multi-family residential development project with Greystar Development Central, LLC at 10701 Bren Rd. E. The project includes removing the existing building to construct a new 269-unit apartment building. For the past several months, staff has worked with the applicant through a facilitated process to revise previous proposals. Changes include a revised landscape plan which includes a rooftop “green roof” landscape area, reconfigured entry to an interior courtyard, redesigned stormwater treatment system, and revised financial considerations.
Council introduces ordinance rezoning the properties at 5432 Rowland Road and 5501 Baker Road
The city council introduced an ordinance which would rezone city-owned properties from R-1, low-density residential, to R-2, low-density residential. The city has owned the subject properties for over 20 years, with the intention of making the sites available for affordable housing development in the future. This rezoning would allow for future construction of twin-homes on the sites.
