Minnetonka police officers are responsible for the delivery of a full range of police services to achieve the effective protection of lives and property in our community. Services include crime prevention, criminal apprehension, enforcing laws and ordinances, providing emergency life-saving response, and maintaining effective community relations.

Qualifications

• Two or four-year college degree
• Valid Minnesota Peace Officer license or be eligible to be licensed in the state of Minnesota

Examinations

• Preliminary and oral board interviews 
• Background investigation
• Psychological and drug testing

If you are interested in a career as a Minnetonka police officer, the Minnetonka Police Cadet program is a great opportunity.

The goal of the cadet program is to develop educated and diverse candidates, who are motivated, team-oriented and capable of serving the community.

The cadet is an employee of the police department, hired with the intent to employ as a full-time police officer when the employee becomes qualified. The police department assists the cadet by providing a fully paid scholarship to an approved two-year law enforcement program. While attending school, the cadet will work part-time in the police department assisting with police department duties.
