  • Police will leave a notice when they respond to an unregistered alarm system. After that, if it remains unregistered, police have the authority to ignore subsequent alarms.
  • Police will respond to two false alarms per address per year. Each subsequent false alarm will result in a $50 fine.
  • The chief of police can suspend response if an alarm has four or more false alarms in one calendar year, or if fines are not paid within 30 days.
  • To reinstate an alarm system, all fines must be paid and proof that issues have been corrected is required.
  • Any suspension of response does not apply to robbery, medical, fire or emergency alarms.
  • Fire response: There is a $250 charge for each fire department response to an automatic fire alarm. There is no charge for response to fire sprinkler water flow alarms or reports of a fire alarm via 911.
