The Sustainable Minnetonka Awards recognize innovative projects that help our environment and make our community more resilient.
Awards will be given in the following categories. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Energy: Renewable energy, including solar panels, solar-powered electricity, wind power, smart grid systems; energy efficiency, electric equipment, electric vehicles and geothermal HVAC.
- Landscape: Native, pollinator- friendly or less resource-intensive plantings.
- Waste Reduction: Organics recycling, composting, food waste reduction, clothes recycling or repurposing and reused recycled construction materials.
- Water: Rain gardens, water retention ponds and systems, greywater reuse systems, shoreline preservation and restoration, and green roofs.
- Young Adult: a project in any of the categories above created by someone under 25 years old.
Projects completed in the past two years are eligible for the award. Applicants need not be Minnetonka residents, but must be Minnetonka property owners, or tenants of a Minnetonka property with permission from the owner to apply.
Applications for the 2023 Sustainable Minnetonka Awards will be accepted from April 1 - Sept. 11.
