In addition to responding to emergencies, Minnetonka Fire Department engages in public education to prevent fires. Choose a topic below to learn more about what you can do in your home to reduce the risk of fires.

Fire and life safety education programs

Children learning CPROur fire and life safety education programs reach residents in many ways, including through dynamic group presentations and hands on learning experiences. Designed to be stimulating, interactive, age-appropriate and personalized, these presentations cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • Fire safety
  • Fire and fall prevention
  • Hands-only CPR/AED training
  • Fire extinguisher training
  • Programs for Scouts

We are happy to schedule a presentation at a fire station or an outside location such as a school or business. Please fill out our Fire Education and Community Outreach request form to request a presentation for your group.

Hands-only CPR

The Minnetonka Fire Department provides a free, Hands-only CPR class on the first Tuesday of the month from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Fire Station 1. No registration is required.

If you have questions about our fire and life safety education programs, please contact Deputy Fire Marshal Sara Ahlquist at 952-939-8331.
