Construction of a new trail is underway along Hopkins Crossroad from Cedar Lake Road to Wayzata Boulevard. The multi-use paved trail will be eight feet wide for both pedestrians and bicyclists. The goal is to improve safety, connectivity and mobility along Hopkins Crossroad.

 

Approximate project schedule

  • 2019 – Survey and feasibility report
  • Aug. 22, 2022 - City Council to consider approval of Feasibility Study and authorize plan preparation. 
  • 2023 – Burial of overhead powerlines
  • 2024 –Construction of trail

Project updates

Oct. 3, 2024

  • The trail is complete and open to the public.
  • Mail boxes were installed this morning.
  • Crews are wrapping up some final, minor items.
  • Railings are being manufactured for the retaining walls and installation is expected in the spring.
  • Minor concrete repair items will take place in the spring.
  • Hennepin County will be completing a mill and overlay of Hopkins Crossroad to resurface the entire roadway in the summer of 2025.
