Nov. 1, 2024 Update
Work will start on the parking ramp the week of Nov. 4. This will include pile driving, which is anticipated to last one month. By city code, construction activities are allowed 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Oct. 29, 2024 Update
A building permit was issued on Oct. 29, 2024. This permit was reviewed by and approved by building, planning, engineering and natural resources staff. It allows for construction of an auto dealership building and associated parking ramp, consistent with the city council's January 2024 approval.
Oct. 7, 2024 Update
A site development permit was issued on Oct. 7, 2024. This permit was reviewed by and approved by building, planning, engineering and natural resources staff. It allows for full demolition of the existing building, site grading, tree removal, installation of utilities and construction of stormwater management facilities.
Jan. 22, 2024 Update
Walser Real Estate has submitted revised plans for an auto dealership and associated parking ramp at 15700 and 15724 Wayzata Blvd. The revised plans included a three-level parking ramp (ground level parking and two decks above); the previous plan was for a four-level ramp (ground level and three decks above). This resubmittal is allowed under MN Statute § 15.99, Subd. 2(b) and by specific action of the Minnetonka City Council on Dec. 18, 2023. The city council will consider the revised plans on Monday, Jan. 29.

Dec. 18, 2023 Update
On Dec. 4, 2023, the city council considered a development proposal, with variances, from Walser Real Estate, LLC. A motion to approve the development failed on a 4-3 vote (5 votes are required to approve variances). The developer has indicated its desire to submit a similar proposal for consideration by the city council. The city council is asked to decide a procedural issue regarding that submission at the Dec. 18, 2023, regular meeting.
November 2023 Update
Walser Real Estate has submitted revised plans for the proposed Walser Kia. Revisions include: (1) removing 36 feet from north end of proposed ramp, resulting in a 127-space reduction in total parking stalls; and (2) increasing landscaping on north side of the ramp with tree plantings and ivy. The city council will consider the Walser Kia proposal on Dec. 4, 2023.
Proposal
Walser Real Estate, LLC, is proposing to redevelop the existing property at 15700 & 15724 Wayzata Blvd. The existing retail center would be torn down and a new Kia dealership would be constructed. The proposal requires the following approvals: (1) master development plan; (2) final site and building plans, with setback variances; (3) conditional use permit; (4) wetland and floodplain alteration permits; and (5) preliminary and final plats.
