The city will construct a new neighborhood park at the west end of Royzelle Lane (view map) in late summer/early fall 2020.

The new park will include:

Separate play structures for 2-5 year olds and 5-12 year olds
Swing set
Additional play equipment
Benches
Landscaping

Provide feedback on concept plan

We’re seeking feedback about the new park before plans are finalized. Please review the concept plan and provide input to Darin Ellingson via email or at 952-988-8414 by Aug. 17, 2020.

Approximate project schedule

Please note, this schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.

July 2020: Concept plan finished, resident feedback requested
August 2020: Final design and equipment selection
August/September 2020: Prepare and solicit bids
September 2020: Construction begins – site work and concrete play area border installation
October 2020: Play equipment installation, park expected to open to public

Background

2015 – Residents submitted a petition for a new city park in the Robinwood neighborhood.
2016 – The park board reviewed possible locations and solicited input. One city-owned parcel was identified as a suitable location for a neighborhood park. City staff conducted a feasibility study and gathered additional information about park impacts. The proposed park was recommended by the park board in March and approved by the city council in July, with construction scheduled for 2020.
2019 – The city began developing a concept plan and held a neighborhood meeting to collect resident input on Dec. 10.
